Ditch the swarm and enjoy your summer evenings on the patio, porch or back deck with some of the most highly reviewed best outdoor quiet bug zappers on the market! Today we’ll be jumping into a series of reviews for some of our favorite bug zappers that will help keep you otherwise relaxing outdoor spaces free from severely irritating presets and unwanted small flying guests. We’ll help you find the most efficient noise-free solution to those horrible little visitors without all of the humming and buzzing of some of the bug lamps, zappers and gimmick products you’ll see out there. But first, we’ll start with a little know-how about what you should expect beforehand.
Reviewing the Best Outdoor Quiet Bug Zapper
It’s reason enough to consider picking one of these up if you’re getting a little more than annoyed with these little pests. The fact of the matter is that mosquitos and other insects can do a lot more than just threaten a good evening on the deck, they can also pose a threat to your health and well being. In fact, the most common source of west-nile disease contraction in North America is from mosquitos.
If that’s not reason enough to get them under control, I don’t know what is!
If you’re sick of itchy bites, and smacking your arms and legs all evening, we’ve got a great lineup of highly-rated bug zappers to help keep mosquitos and other small pests away for good!
Is it Safe to Use a Bug Zapper Outdoors?
Yes, especially those designed specifically for use outdoors against these flying pests. All of the devices listed in this review are designed to be used outside. That means that they’re waterproof to some degree, and can stand up to the task at hand. You won’t have to worry about them shorting out or otherwise breaking by following the manufacturer’s recommended usage instructions as per each bug zapper. That being said, we’re going to tell you just how well they stand up!
Handheld Vs. Stationary Bug Zappers
Unless you plan on spending the whole evening running circles around your deck or patio, I seriously recommend using a purpose-built bug zapper device that you can either hang up or set on a tabletop. The reason being is because they’ll attract and kill mosquitos and other pests without interrupting your evening, so you can focus on entertaining and less on training your swatting arm.
Not only that, but thanks to their dedicated power sources they’re able to deliver more zapping power, meaning you won’t have to worry about flies or mosquitoes that are too large for your bug zapper paddle to handle. And, quite frankly I personally find them to be somewhat ineffective, at least of the models I’ve tried. Stick with a tried and tested method that combines a light to attract, and then electricity to fry those little suckers before they can get a bite in on you!
Keuomy Bug Zapper 4250V Electronic Mosquito Zapper
This model is effective both indoors and outdoors, but we’re going to be focusing on it’s outside capabilities to give you an idea of just how much more relaxing it can make your outdoor experience! This zapper effectively covers up to 1200 sq ft, meaning it will seamlessly cover your outdoor seating area and then some. If you’re seriously averse to bug spray and chemical products, this is a fantastic alternative! The best part about this little zapper? It’s really quiet, with its high voltage ultraviolet light killing irritating mosquitos without so much as a hum. It won’t interrupt your conversation, but it will make your evening outside a lot more tolerable.
- Long 4 ft Cord
- Totally quiet
- No wireless operation
2 in 1 Mosquito Zapper 4200V Electronic Lamp
80 square meters of coverage, and the ability to zap a wide variety of flying pests is what places this unit on our list. Also, it does so without hardly any sound! This is a dual-use unit that can be used either inside or outside. The value on this unit is all there, and it definitely comes in as a lower-priced range model compared to the rest. This is a high powered mosquito killer that’s totally waterproof and ready for use on your porch or patio. It comes with a top mounted ring for hanging in an area, or can sit easily on any flat surface. There is something that’s worth noting about these UV models. Simply put, they work best at night. The dark helps mosquitoes find the flaring UV light which makes them more effective. Thankfully, that’s also when you’re most likely to want to turn this thing on anyways.
- Value priced model
- Very quiet
- Is less effective during daytime
Electric Solar Mosquito Killer
This bug zapper packs 3000V of high powered mosquito control power to help keep buzzards off of your deck and patio. What’s unique about this unit is that it features a solar powered design. This makes it ideal for not only the back deck, but also camping trips and outings as well! The solar design is a huge plus for those of us who want a ‘set it and forget it’ approach to flying pest control out on the deck. In other words, you really don’t have to worry about charging this thing at all! Just make sure you leave it in a place where it’s going to get some adequate sunlight so that it can charge all day before you’re ready to use it in the evenings. With 3000V, it comes around the mid-high range of voltage for mosquito killing power which is respectable considering the fact that it’s a solar powered unit. We also appreciate the clip handle, which allows you to hang this bug zapper if desired.
- Solar powered
- Neutral case design
- No other charging method
Ultra-Quiet Effective Mosquito Zapper
This ultra quiet model is ideal for use both indoors and outdoors, and has a pretty interesting quirk that sets it apart from the others. This product claims to be able to lure mosquitoes in with a powerful UV light, as well as an odor bait. It’s not perfectly clear how the latter works, but that being said it is a fairly interesting concept. There’s one tiny downside, and it’s that the manufacturer recommends that this unit not be kept too closely to people so that they don’t throw off the bait. Instead, place this unit outdoors a couple of hours before you plan on using the space. Afterwards, move it slightly away from where you’re sitting to allow it to continue luring mosquitoes to the UV light array. The case design is well suited for this, with deep grooves to prevent you from accidentally touching the UV element. It’s powered via a small cable and a USB charging block. That means that it’s fairly universal, since it could even charge via a 120V USB car charger for when you’re camping. A small loop on top makes it possible to mount this unit just about anywhere, too!
- Incredibly quiet
- Easy to clean design
- Short charger cable, ideal for charging before use
Black + Decker Bug Zapper Trap
The Black and Decker bug zapper is ideal for coverage across a large outdoor space, especially if you want something that’s relatively quiet. Much like the other models in our review, it can mount to something and hang via a hook, or sit on its base. Personally, I find this type of zapper to be somewhat more effective because of the larger spaces the mosquitoes, gnats, flies and other pests can fly into. Not only that, but it also allows the bright UV to attract the bugs without bothering you or your guests too much. This unit covers an impressive 625 sq ft, which is more than enough to keep your seating area relatively pest free.
- Wide outdoor pest control range
- Can hang via a built-in metal loop
- Relatively shorter power cord compared to other models
Thanks for checking out these reviews for the best outdoor quiet bug zappers! Keeping pests off of your property shouldn’t have to be a loud or even terribly expensive ordeal. Luckily, each of these models offers something different depending on what kind of space you’re working with so you can get the most out of your outdoor spaces.
